Within the frameworks of joint working group of OJSC "Corporation Ural Industrial - Ural Polar" and Russian Railways company a possibility of using of the unique locomotive - a gas turbine locomotive - as means of traction that allows running trains weighing up to 15 000 tons, which exceeds at least two times the designed load norm of the trains.
Deputy Director of the Corporation Alexander Vylitok informed about that.
The gas turbine locomotive was created by Russian designers and is under tests at the RZD company at the moment.
An original system of liquefied gas supplying to turbine as well as other know-how are applied in the new in principle locomotive, which allows:
- fully substitute diesel fuel with liquefied gas;
- ensure engine capacity of 6300 kilowatt ans design speed up to 100 km/h (by the average speed of a fully loaded train of 38 km/h);
- to have a fuel reserve up to 17 t of liquefied gas;
- reduce costs for fuel and lubricants and associated materials by 44%.
In general appliance of gas turbine locomotive allows apart from a considerable economic effect ensuring decrease of environmental damage (in comparison with the serial locomotives) 10-fold.
